alI haven't uploaded a post this month, or this year, but that got me thinking, why do we measure time? Is it purely to help organise our lives? We live in minutes, in hours, in days, in weeks, in months, in years. Why? Before calendars, or clocks we never had the organisation in our lives, we followed the suns fall, and the hope that it would rise the next day.
there are an infinite ways to measure time, the sun, the clock, how fast water freezes, how fast it moves, how fast it takes to evaporate, I could go on.
People say there is no time in space, I wonder if they know how wrong they are, for there is time in space, there just inst a clear way to measure it, you can use the rotation of the sun, or you could use the lifespan of a human to measure time.
Time is a constraint on our life, we often find we don't have enough, and this is the case for the amount of time we have in a day, or a lifespan. I always find that time runs out quick during the day, even though I've hardly progressed in any of the days activities, but the week would drag on. Yet at the end of the year, it feels as if you breezed through it, and you wonder where the time went. Is our mind playing tricks on us? Does it make us forget the boring parts of the day or year which makes us feel as if the year goes quick. I've read (can't remember where) that the brain will process fun times as longer than they actually were and dull, boring times quick.
Time is always on my mind. How long do I have? I often ask myself. I don't have a watch, but I check my phone a lot, for the time, (which makes me think I should get a watch). I need to manage my time or I will lose track of things, I will miss meetings or deadlines. Without a measurement of time our lives would be chaotic.
I set out, writing this, to convince anyone whom may be reading, that making sure we keep track of time, can be bad for us, for humans. But I've convinced myself that we without it hell will break loose. Maybe there is a truth from what i'm rambling about, but probably not. When I get time (pun intended) I will look into Time more and how it works and how we perceive it. Is there a way to slow down or speed up time? Lets find out.

Why do we do what we do.
I'm not here to answer any ethical questions, mainly because I am seriously under qualified to answer any meaningful questions, and plus im not sober. So to the main point, why do we do what we do. Why do we do anything in our life. Is it all down to human biology? That we do what we do because our ancestors did stuff that was similar, like the need to create off spring?
Why am I up at 1 AM? Why am I writing this? Why are you reading this? Is the world in some way connected or is life some big coincidence. Do we have meaning behind out actions or do we just do what we feel is right.
Going to school, getting a job, a wife, children, a promotion, grandchildren. What is the point in life? This is something that I think about constantly, why do we live. I'm looking from my two eyes and the only vision I see is my own. Am I selfish? or am I human?
There is a quote, one of my favourites, by Lin-Manuel Miranda, love is love is love is love. This was after the massacre at the gay night club just to give context.
But i'm going to say 'life is life is life' we live life to experience life, it's like playing a really shitty game you've heard great things about. You live life knowing what people have achieved in their life, and you hope you can achieve success like the others, but you know the odds are against you. You live life to live the life. It's a waste to not live your life, but what is living a life? To live a life, is to enjoy is to, experience life, stuff, anything. You don't choose your life, well you do but you choose how to live your life, you just don't choose it, you take the opportunists to make your life better, if you want.
They say gambling is bad, but in terms of living. it is essential, without gambling you can't live a worth while life. That new job, that lottery ticket, that new business deal, that new person in your life. With out gambling we become shells of what we should be, we close ourselves off, we retreat, we don't hope we wish, but the next step to wishing is gambling. Because that new job or that new grant is only there if you gamble your time to apply. The type of gambling I want to create isn't with money but with time, risk your time for that new exciting thing you hope to achieve.
But what do I know, i'm just a film student that has about, roughly, 7 shots of liqueur in him. I hope you think more after this post. I hope you learn, from whatever you can because learning is the future
We Live Our Life
We live our life, not knowing what’s next, not knowing what will come next week or next month or next year, we hope we dream we wish. We never know what will be next in our hopefully long life, we can only hope, wish and dream for that is what life is, it’s the thought that one day we will make something of ourselves, that we will accomplish what we want to be in this life of ours, we live a life never knowing if today is our last day, we never think if today will be the last, it could, but we would never know we, we should, we should always live everyday as if it’s our last. But that throws a curve ball into the advice we’ve been given, we are told to live our life as if it was our last day on this earth but then we are told not to drink to much, or to smoke or to do drugs. Which is it? Live life as if it’s the last day or not? How can someone live everyday as if it’s the last, if they don’t try every risk that comes their way. Living your life as if it’s the last, must be a risk, you must be trying something new, otherwise your not living everyday as it’s the last. Why not? Are you scared? Do you risk your life for the adventure? For the fun? For the adrenaline? Why?
Its complicated there are so many variables to your life. So many factors that make your life worthwhile, your friends, your family, the possibility that you could live till you’re 100 years old, do you want to live to that age? At 21 years old, I don’t. If I had kids and then grandkids, I would want to live as long as possible but that time hasn’t come, do I wait, or do I risk? Do I die doing what I wish, do I die doing what I love? Do I die finding that lost piece of me that I will never find because everything I need and want will always be in the way I think about things. Perception is important, something that is bad for someone can be great for someone else, find what makes you feel great, tell your story, live your life as you want to live it, for you control your destiny, you control how you feel, you control what happens next, you control your life. Every day is a struggle, it has to be, otherwise what the point? Why do you live. What is the meaning of life. What is the meaning of your life. Why do you live, why are you alive right now? It can’t be because you think your life is important, as humans we think that about our own lives, but at the end of the day our lives do not matter we are a grain of sand in the beach of the world, of the galaxy, or the universe. We live because we want to, because life is fun. Upset, happiness is what makes life interesting, it’s the same as continuing to watch a tv show after a major cliff-hanger you want to find out what’s next you want to see what’s next in your life, otherwise you’ll never know, you will grow old wanting to know you will have happiness, but you will only have happiness if you find it, if you search for it, otherwise it will never come. Find what makes you happy and hold onto it, for you deserve it. We all deserve to be happy, we all deserve to live a life that will make us happy and content, but we have to find it for ourselves, we cant wait around for something we don’t know because we don’t know what will happen, so you have to decide and go after it.
